Halloween can is meant to be a scary good time, BUT it can also be a stressful time for your four legged pets. People constantly walking by, knocking or ringing the doorbell. It is also a time of parties, which you may be having some yourself. Keep your pets safe during these stressful times. Try to find them a quit place. If your pet is sensitive, you may want to even play them some calm music, my Lizzy and Lucas like Music my Pets. Other dangers that lurk around during the Halloween season is all that candy. Be sure keep the candy at out of reach of your pets. Also, make sure if you are having a party, please ask the guest to refrain from feeding your pets.
Have a Safe Halloween Season,

Fourth of July Safety Tips
Fourth of July Safety Tips
I'm going to provide a link to the ASPCA Fourth of July Safety Tips.
First, some of my thoughts.
For dogs that don't like loud sounds, keep them in a safe and calm enforcement. You also may want to consider a Thunder coat. You can also play calming music for your pets as well. I've been using Music My Pets for years, and it does work. If your in and around parties, make sure your pets don't get into trash or fireworks, make sure guest do not feed your pets.
Have a fun & safe 4th of July once it gets here

Are you prepared for a disaster
Do you have your ducks in a row when it comes to evacuating for a disaster, Don't forget about your pets. Don't leave your pets when you leave.
- Have copies of pet health records ready, including microchip information.
- Collars with tag identification, current pictures
- Not all Public Shelters take pets, so have an alternate plan ahead of time
- Pet crates for containment (toys with smells they are familiar with)
- Medication, Benadryl can be used to calm your pet, children's chewable Pepto can be used for upset stomach (consult your Vet on dosage amounts for Benadryl and Pepto). There are also aroma therapies that can also have calming effects
- food, water, leashes, bowels. toys
Pets just like humans can become stressed, so keep an eye on their apatite and potty time.

May is Chip your Dog Month
Did you know that it is chip your dog month. If your dog ever gets out without a collar, a microchip is a easy for Fido to be ID'd
This is also a good time to remind folks if you have your pet micro-chipped, to be sure to keep their microchip account current and to upload a current picture. So if you your pooch gets a summer cut, take a pic and up-load it.
Hope you enjoy my dog blog
Thanks,
Joel

Keep Fido Cool
With warmer weather approaching, some of us may be getting our pets groomed so they will be cooler. Make sure you have an up to date photo in your pet records and for their microchip account. Warm weather also bring on the flea season, so stay on top of the their treatment program. Don’t just buy what’s cheapest, do your research and know what is actually working these days.
One thing I get on my soapbox about is keeping your Dogs (and other pets) cool during the warmer months. Some dogs are more prone to heatstroke than others, some of these are breeds with shorter snouts. Leaving your dogs outside during the day during the warmer months is not advised, I beg you not to! This also brings me to my next point, sometimes we may be compelled to leave fido in the car with the windows cracked, while we run into the store for a few minutes. This is an absolute NO! NO! We all know, or should know how hot it can get in vehicle. It does not even have to be that hot. The humidity alone can kill a dog. There are other dangers associated with leaving a pet in a vehicle, such as theft, so don’t leave fido in the vehicle. I probably break out this article I’m going to share with you every year, and sometimes more than once. It is a sad story, but it is important to understand how the humidity and heat can affect your pet.
