Do you have your ducks in a row when it comes to evacuating for a disaster, Don't forget about your pets. Don't leave your pets when you leave.
- Have copies of pet health records ready, including microchip information.
- Collars with tag identification, current pictures
- Not all Public Shelters take pets, so have an alternate plan ahead of time
- Pet crates for containment (toys with smells they are familiar with)
- Medication, Benadryl can be used to calm your pet, children's chewable Pepto can be used for upset stomach (consult your Vet on dosage amounts for Benadryl and Pepto). There are also aroma therapies that can also have calming effects
- food, water, leashes, bowels. toys
Pets just like humans can become stressed, so keep an eye on their apatite and potty time.
