Keep Fido Cool

With warmer weather approaching, some of us may be getting our pets groomed so they will be cooler. Make sure you have an up to date photo in your pet records and for their microchip account. Warm weather also bring on the flea season, so stay on top of the their treatment  program. Don’t just buy what’s cheapest, do your research and know what is actually working these days.

One thing I get on my soapbox about is keeping your Dogs (and other pets) cool during the warmer months. Some dogs are more prone to heatstroke than others, some of these are breeds with shorter snouts. Leaving your dogs outside during the day during the warmer months is not advised, I beg you not to! This also brings me to my next point, sometimes we may be compelled to leave fido in the car with the windows cracked, while we run into the store for a few minutes. This is an absolute NO! NO! We all know, or should know how hot it can get in vehicle. It does not even have to be that hot. The humidity alone can kill a dog. There are other dangers associated with leaving a pet in a vehicle, such as theft, so don’t leave fido in the vehicle. I probably break out this article I’m going to share with you every year, and sometimes more than once. It is a sad story, but it is important to understand how the humidity and heat can affect your pet.
