Fourth of July Safety Tips

Fourth of July Safety Tips

I'm going to provide a link to the ASPCA Fourth of July Safety Tips.

First, some of my thoughts.

For dogs that don't like loud sounds, keep them in a safe and calm enforcement. You also may want to consider a Thunder coat. You can also play calming music for your pets as well. I've been using Music My Pets for years, and it does work. If your in and around parties, make sure your pets don't get into trash or fireworks, make sure guest do not feed your pets.

Have a fun & safe 4th of July once it gets here

Are you prepared for a disaster

Do you have your ducks in a row when it comes to evacuating for a disaster, Don't forget about your pets. Don't leave your pets when you leave.

  • Have copies of pet health records ready, including microchip information.
  • Collars with tag identification, current pictures
  • Not all Public Shelters take pets, so have an alternate plan ahead of time
  • Pet crates for containment (toys with smells they are familiar with)
  • Medication, Benadryl can be used to calm your pet, children's chewable Pepto can be used for upset stomach (consult your Vet on dosage amounts for Benadryl and Pepto). There are also aroma therapies that can also have calming effects
  • food, water, leashes, bowels. toys
Pets just like humans can become stressed, so keep an eye on their apatite and potty time.
